When I was a child, I LOVED to flip through quotation books and highlight and underline my favorite quotes. One day, I came across a quote by Robert Byrne that literally stopped me in my tracks – The purpose of life is a life of purpose. I immediately went to our Tandy computer (remember those?), typed it out, printed it on our MS-DOS printer (which took forever by the way) and hung it on my wall where I could see it every day. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I remember this quote – it serves as a foundation to creating a meaningful life.
Over the last few months, I’ve done even more soul searching to get crystal clear about my ‘why,’ and have finally arrived at what I consider a very workable draft – not a final draft because I’m not sure if it will ever be final, but for now, it feels right.
My purpose is to advance self-leadership for a more inspired world. Having this purpose has allowed me to make decisions based on what matters most and to say a clear ‘no’ to the things that don’t align, and an enthusiastic ‘yes’ to the things that do. I hope you will feel equally as liberated and inspired by the purpose statement you create in this month’s Reflect and Re-Connect guide. I help people be true to their inner calling and lead the life they love.
